(Figs 1,4) Material examined - Holotype, male: "Malaysia, Pahang, Pulau Tioman, trail be­tween Juara and Tekek, lowland rainforest, swept & beaten, 10-17.III. 1995, No. 9, O. Merkl" (HNHM). 12 paratypes (males, females): same data as holotype; Tioman, rd. Kampong Tekek, K. Juara, 4-16.III.1998, D. HAUCK (CCW, CPG, HNHM). Description - Length 1.85-1.95 mm; width 0.85-0.86 mm. Male (Fig. 1). Entirely fer­ruginous with sides of pronotum, elytra, antennae and legs lighter, yellowish. Covered with semi-erect, whitish and thickened scales. Head very small, narrower than anterior part of ptonotum; eyes flat; frons convex on vertex, feebly impressed at anterior margin, coarsely punctate. Antennae short, not reach­ing middle of pronotum, strongly serrate from fourth antennomere; second antennomere cylindrical, twice as long as wide; third antennomere globose and short, as long as about half of second; fourth and fifth antennomeres triangular, strongly dilated outwards, wider than long; sixth to ninth antennomeres as long as wide; tenth antennomere cup-shaped, wider than the preceding; eleventh antennomere oblong-ovate, pointed apically, about twice as long as tenth. Pronotum transverse, constricted immediately behind anterior angles, 1.35 times widet than long, strongly convex on disc, abruptly declivous at sides, nearly vertical at base; lateral carina feebly crenulate, visible throughout its whole length in dorsal view and not attaining anterior margin; sides widest in anterior third, then gtadually narrowing toward base, slightly sinuate before posterior angles, the latter with pointed apex, not or barely di­verging; anterior margin with prolonged anterior angles and englobing the head as far as the level of eyes; punctures coarse, evenly distributed, deep and simple, interspaces shiny and equal, about half of puncture diameters. Scutellum flat, quadrangular, without carina, only partially visible in dorsal view. Elytra connate, very short, 1.55 times longer than pronotum, and 1.2 times longer than wide, widest at anterior third, then strongly narrowing toward apex, the latter regularly rounded; sides crenulate, disc very convex, coarsely and evenly punctate, striae indistinct. Wings absent. Prosternai sutures deeply furrowed for about half of their length. Aedeagus as in Fig. 4 (length 0.275 mm). Female: Very similar to male and cannot be distinguished without examination of genitalia. Bionomics - The holotype was collected in lowland rainforest by sweeping and beat­ing from vegetation.
