Impatientinum asiaticum new for the Hungarian fauna (Hemiptera: Aphidoidea) 17 is holocyclic and monoecious. Apterae, alatae of A. fabae were also collected on flower peduncles and the underside of the leaves of small balsam. It is a common polyphagous, heteroecious and holocyclic species in Europe, widespread in the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. DISCUSSION Until now no aphid species has been identified from small balsam in Hungary. The above presented data provided us with interesting observations, especially as to the habitats and host plant and distribution of a new aphid species. Research on interactions between plants and animals is of great importance in studying the spreading of invasive alien species. It would be important to know whether Impatientinum asiaticum has any influence on the seed production and further spreading of small balsam. Furthermore, I. asiaticum has settled successfully on another alien balsam, Impatiens glandulifera ROYLE, and it cannot be excluded that the distribution will continue to the native Impatiens noli-tangere L. The result of this survey is a contribution to the knowledge of the aphid fauna of Hungary.
