INTRODUCTION This paper reports on three zoological collecting trips to the Republic of Ko­rea (South Korea), which have been carried out by six researchers of the Hungarian Natural History Museum in 2003 and 2005. The aim of the trips was to collect sev­eral animal groups, including moths and butterflies (Lepidoptera), and flies (Diptera), other insect groups (such as Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Heteroptera, Neuroptera, etc.), soil arthropods (Diplopoda, Chilopoda, Isopoda), and small mammals as well as their internal parasites. In two cases, the expeditions were hosted by the Kangwon National University (Chuncheon, Kangwon Province), es­pecially by Professor KYU-TEK PARK, whereas in September-October, 2003, the collecting trip was carried out in Kyongsangbuk and Chungchongbuk Provinces. In August 2003 we mainly focused on the field work at various localities; however, we also had the chance to visit several collections and university departments, con­ducting intensive research on insects (Kangwon National University, Sangju Na­tional University, Yonsei University, National Institute of Agriculture Science and
