Description - Measurements in mm: body length 1.87 (holotype), 1.95- 2.38 (paratypes), wing length 2.10 (holotype), 2.00-2.38 (paratypes), wing breadth 0.75, 0.75-0.88, length of proboscis 1.0 (slightly dorwncurved), 0.85-1.15 (shorter if slightly retracted). Rather similar to the new species of Apolysis sp. from Greece. Antenna dark, 0.30 mm long (holotype), basis of first flagellomere yellowish. Flagellum with an articulated spine-like second flagellomere in addition to a minute stylus. Mesonotum and all thorax similarly coloured as Apolysis sp. from Greece. Wings uniformly light brownish, vein light brown. Vein measurements (1 unit = 0.01 1 mm) and ratios taken on the male holotype. Wing venation basically same as in Apolysis sp. from Greece. Costal ratios 66, 47, 15, 33; R 4+5 (stem) 50.5, R, 43, on a paratype female 50/49; M, ratios 26.5 (to R-M), 33.5 (intracrossvein section), 41 (terminal section); M 2 ratios 10.5,48, 20.5; M-Cu (cross-vein to Cu,) 7. Distance of apices M, and M 2 18.5. Terminal section of A, 12.5. Cu, well discernible to M-Cu and slightly beyond. Vein R 5 slightly more curved than in the Apolysis sp. from Greece. Female halter white, male halter yellowish with a large dark grey spot covering dorsal half of knob and apical part of stalk. Only dorsal half of male femora diffusely dark grey, ventral halves yellowish. Female fore femur only with some diffuse dorsal grey hue, or dorsal half dark. Coloration of mid and hind legs with all dark tarsi similar to that of Apolysis sp. from Greece. Male abdominal setae 0.13mm, those on females max. 0.09mm, i.e. shorter than in the Apolysis sp. from Greece. Male abdominal sterna broader than in Apolysis sp. from Greece, or rather, shorter parts are well pigmented, best seen on the last two preabdominal sterna (Fig. 2). Female cerci waxy yellow.
