Coniopteryx mongolica group - Species included: C. mongolica MEIN ANDER, 1969. - Main distinctive feature: in the male genitalia there is a peculiar large sclerite behind the stylus. - Distribution: From Mongolia and China to Yemen. Coniopteryx obtusa group - Species included: C. obtusa WlTHYCOMBE, 1925. - Main distinctive features: caudal part of paramere wavy, wide, with pointed ending. - Distribution: India. Coniopteryxparanana group - Species included: C. paranana MEINANDER, 1990. - Main distinctive features: male scape wery wide, its outer side lobe-like. Distribution: Brazil. - Remarks: In the original description MEINANDER (1990) placed this species in the subgenus Coniopteryx sensu stricto. However, the stylus is connected to the gonarcus distinctly before its end, so C. paranana belongs to the subgenus Xeroconiopteryx. Coniopteryx ressli group - Species included: C. ressli RAUSCH et ASPÖCK, 1978. - Main distinctive features: caudal end of paramere with an acute dorsal, and with a similar ventral projection. - Distribution: Iran, Saudi Arabia.
