Distribution: Europe, Asia Minor, Morocco. Subgenus Xeroconiopteryx Meinander, 1972 Large subgenus, with 82 species. It is distributed worldwide, with the exception of oriental SE Asia, and may be devided to 17 species groups. 50 species in 12 species groups are known from the examined territory. Coniopteryx aegyptiaca group 9 species; all from the examined territory, and all but one from arid and semiarid habitats.
