through, under ca. 100 x magnification). Gonocoxal bridge low or very low, broad, regularly rounded, narrow in ventral view. Gonostyle parallel-sided, tip rounded; basal tubercle absent, but sometimes gonostyle is somewhat swollen mesobasally (Fig. 2). Aedeagal complex (Figs 3,4): parameres relatively short to medium, hood small and inconspicuous in lateral view; basal apodemes very broad; lateral apodemes rounded, meeting dorsal margin of basal apodeme at various angle (compare Figs 3 and 4); aedeagus seems larger than in other species of this group; aedeagal apodeme variable, rather short. Female (Figs 7-11): Setae margins of valvae of sternite VIII are broad. Ovipositor from as long as to 1.3 times longer than genital segment (variations in shape and length in Figs 7-9), slender, including the base, almost straight; setulose area almost flat, distinctly delimited, short to medium; tip obtuse. Hypogynial plate broadly triangular, with small to conspicuous medial incision (Figs 10, 11); fork of genital plate semicircular, in specimens from Hungary a dark strip visible inside fork (Fig. 10); absent in specimens from Poland and Sweden (Fig. 11). Supragenital plate with two bristles. Remarks - Discriminating characters of the new species are far more conspicuous in the female than in the male; therefore a female is designated for a holotype. A similar phenomenon was observed in two other newly described species, 77. (S.) recondita and 77. (S.) brevis, and to a lesser extent, almost in all species of the subgenus (especially, in 77. (S.) antennata , 77. (S.) calva, 77. (S.) implicata, 77. (S.) montium, 77. (S.) rufulenta, 77. (S.) saltator, T. (S.) sparsa and 77. (S.) thaleri). Judging from the localities, 77. (S.) pappi sp. n., has a wide European distribution. Adults were found in lowland regions from autumn till spring, also on snow.
