FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK Volume 64 2003 pp. 19-25. Deraiophorus Canestrini, 1897 species (Acari: Uropodina) from Borneo J. KONTSCHÁN Abstract: Three Deraiophorus species were studied from Borneo. Two of the them are new to science (Deraiophorus pseudomagnus, D. belahanellaensis), the other one was already known from Borneo (Deraiophorus haradai Hiramatsu, 1982). With 11 figures. Key words: Acari, Uropodina, Deraiophorus, new species, Borneo INTRODUCTION Five young researchers (L. Dányi, B. Kancsal, I. Németh, K. Schöll & G. Szövényi) from the Department of Systematic Zoology and Ecology of Eötvös Loránd University traveled to Borneo between December 2002 and January 2003. Five soil samples were collected, but only three uropodid mite species were found in the material. The species belong to the genus Deraiophorus. One of them is a known species {Deraiophorus haradai Hiramatsu, 1982), but the other two species are new to science. The genus Deraiophorus Canestrini, 1897 is distributed primarily in South America and the Indo-Malay region, but some of its species are known also from Africa and Europe (Wisniewski & Hirschmann 1993). Five Deraiophorus species were described from Borneo (Hiramatsu 1982). Deraiophorus Canestrini, 1897 The revision of the genus was made by Hirschmann (1973, 1990) and the identification key for the species group and the species were given in these works. The main characteristics of the genus Deraiophorus are the following (Hirschmann 1993):
