S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 64. (Budapest, 2003)

Genera and species are mentioned in an alphabetical order. Brief comments on each genus are added, mainly on morphological and biological aspects, and identification keys to the Hungarian species are given. Inquiline cynipid hosts for the Hungarian fauna are indicated in a general way, with the following abbreviations: [a] asexual galls and [b] bisexual galls; a new cynipid gall host relationship is marked with (*). The cynipid host, Andricus gallaetinctoriae (Olivier, 1791) is a dubious species (Pujade-Villar, Bellido & Melika 2002) and, thus, in the host lists we mention it as "?A. gallaetinctoriae", however, in our opinion, in the majority of cases the host-inquiline record belongs to asexual galls of Andricus infectorius (Hartig, 1843). Finally, the distribution is indicated, including the country where from each species has been cited. In all cases all the references, where from the distribution data originate, are not included because the references list would be quite long (for such data see Dalla Torre & Kieffer 1910). ISO country codes are used for the distribution: AD - Andorra, AT - Austria, AZ - Azerbajdzjan, BE Belgium, BG - Bulgaria, CH - Switzerland, C Y - Cyprus, CZ - Czech Republic, DE - Germany, DK - Denmark, DZ - Algeria, ES - Spain, FI - Finland, FR - France, GB - Great Britain, GE - Georgia, GR - Greece, HR - Croatia, HU - Hungary, IL - Israel, IQ - Iraq, IR - Iran, IT - Italy, MA Marocco, MD - Moldavia, MK - Macedonia, NL - The Netherlands, NO - Norway, PL - Poland, PT - Portugal, RO - Romania, RU - Russia, SE - Sweden, SI - Slovenia, TN - Tunisia, TR - Turkey, UA - Ukraine, YU - Yugoslavia (= Serbia, Kosovo.Vojvodina). Western Palaearctic species, which have not been found yet in the Hungarian fauna, are also listed and commented, as well as many species which need revision because of their current uncertain taxonomic position (nomina dubia). RESULTS Twenty nine species of cynipid inquilines are listed below for the Hungarian fauna, from which only five species were mentioned in the literature earlier: Ceroptres clavicornis (Hartig, 1840) in Fahringer (1921), Synergus crassicornis (Curtis, 1838), S. pallidipennis Mayr, 1872, S. umbraculus (Olivier, 1791), and Synophrus politus Hartig, 1843 in Dalla Torre & Kieffer (1910). Thirty eight species for the Western Palaearctic region (see species list for Hungary and Appendix 1) are given. Fourteen uncertain (nomina dubia) cynipid inquiline names are also listed and discussed below (see Appendix 5). Two new names (nomina nova), Synergus samnalievae Pujade-Villar et Melika and S. vassilevaensis Pujade-Villar et Melika are proposed. Four names with a new status (status nova) are given: Synergus radiatus Mayr, 1872, S. pallipes Hartig, 1840, S. tibialis Hartig, 1840, and Synophrus pilulae Giraud in Houard, 1911. One Periclistus and 29 Synergus names are synonymized (syn. nova), or they have been changed from an incorrect synonymy to the correct one: Periclistus rosarum Deitmer, 1924 is a syn. n. of P. caninae (Hartig, 1840); S. basalis Hartig, 1840, S. palliceps Hartig, 1841, S. australis Hartig, 1843, Synergus albifasciatus
