Pachynematus vagus (Fabricius, 1781) — Máramarosi k.k, Brebenyeszkul, tvt, tourist house, 700-800 m, 12.06, 1 female. Pachynematus carpathiensis sp. n. Head yellowish brown. Black: vertex, frontal area, and a frontal spot reaching the eyes in 1-1 points and directed down to the antennae. Face, clypeus, labrum yellowish white. Antennae yellow ventrally. Antennái joints 1-3 dark brown dorsally, 4-9 yellow­ish brown above. Scapus and pcdicellus entirely (dorsoventrally) dark brown. Thorax mainly black. Yellowish brown: hind (V-shaped) margin of the middle lobes, hind mar­gins of the lateral lobes, scutellum, postscutellum, wide hind margin of pronotum, tegu­lae, mesopleuron and sides of the metanotum. Postscutellum with blackish shadow in the middle. Legs yellowish brown, base of coxae and a longitudinal line on the hind femur black. Wings hyaline. Costa, subcosta and stigma yellow. First abdominal tergite black, the 2nd black with 2 horizontal black spots, the other tergites brown with black hind and fore margins. Abdominal sternites yellowish brown. Ratios of the antennái segments = 6:6:27:33:30:23:21:19:21. OOL:POL:OCL = 11:11:13. Length of genae:diamcter of front ocellus = 7:3. Clypeus roundly emarginated up to 1/3 of its median length. Antenna with sparse minute hairs. Length of the hairs on the head about 1/3-1/2 times as long as the diameter of front ocellus. Head without hind carina, shining with minute, moderate­ly dense punctures. Frontal basin well outlined with a groove in the middle. Length of hind tiria/hind tarsus = 53:55. Length of inner hind tibial spur.width of hind tibia above : length of basitarsus = 15:10:36. Ratios of the hind tarsal segments (without claws) = 36:16:14:8:16. Claws with minute inner tooth. Mesonotum shining, moderately densely and uniformly punctured with small punctures. Scutellum and mesoscutellum with spo­radic punctures. Mesopleuron shining, densely and uniformly punctured. Scutellum flat. Pubescence of thorax short and white, like that on the head. Penis valve with long api­cal spine (Fig.l). Apical projection of the eighth tergite small (Fig. 2). Length: 4.9 mm. Holotype — Male: Rahó körzet, Csorna Hora, Mencsul, 1300 m, 09.07.1975, leg. Ermolenko. The holotype is deposited in the Hungarian National History Museum, Budapest. The new species belongs to the subgenus Pikonema Ross, 1937. In Zhclochovtsev's key (1988) it runs to Pachynematus scutellatus (Hartig, 1837). P. scutellatus is a large species, 7.0 mm or more.
