ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK LXII 2001 pp. 307-312 Anthomyiidae (Diptera) species new to Hungary* B. Darvas, Á. Dely-Draskovits, D. M. Ackland and T. Jermy Anthomyiidae (Diptera) species new to Hungary — Thirty-six species of Anthomyiidae (one Acyglossa, one Alliopsis, three Anthomyia, one Calythea, four Delia, one Egle, one Engyneura, one Enneastigma, one Eustalomyia, three Eutrichota, two Hydrophoria, two Lasiomma, seven Leucophora, three Pegomya, three Pegoplata, two Phorbia) are recorded as new for the Hungarian fauna. Further Fifteen species (one Acyglossa, two Botanophila, four Delia, three Egle, two Eustalomyia, one Leucophora, one Phorbia, one Zaphe) of Anthomyiidae, whose specimens were identified but not published by earlier specialists (K. Kertész, F. Kowarz, W. Hennig, E. Girschner, J. M. Malloch, Z. Szilády and F. Mihályi) from the material of the HNHM, are reported for the first time. Key words: Acyglossa, Alliopsis, Anthomyia, Botanophila, Calythea, Delia, Egle, Engyneura, Enneastigma, Eustalomyia, Eutrichota, Hydrophoria, Lasiomma, Leucophora, Pegomya, Pegoplata, Phorbia, Zaphe, faunistic survey, new records, Hungary. INTRODUCTION When the first author of this paper edited a checklist of the known Hungarian anthomyiid species, and simultaneously checked the Hungarian collection, he found several unpublished species new to the Hungarian fauna. Although this family is of vast agricultural importance (Hennig 1953), no sensu stricto anthomyiid specialist has ever worked on the Hungarian collections (see e.g., Loew 1873, Thalhammer 1900). However, at the beginning of the last century, Peter Stein (Genthin, Brandenburg) had close contact with Kálmán Kertész, who worked on anthomyiid species (Bezzi & Stein 1907, Stein 1916). The larger part of the Hungarian Diptera collection was destroyed by fire in 1956, although materials of the acalyptrate families survived in Árpád Soós 's room. Some specimens of anthomyiids — including Emmanuel Pokorny's collection — were probably away from the Hungarian Natural History Museum in 1956 and are now part of our assortment. Ferdinand Kowarz, Kálmán Kertész, Willi Hennig, Ernst Girschner, John M. Malloch and Zoltán Szilády determined several species new to Hungary from this group, although they had never The faunistic research was supported by the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund (OTKAT032197).
