Although these new faunistical data are very important they covered only a few waterways (e.g. upper reches of Tisza River, Juhász et al. 1998, Apátkút-patak [creek], Andrikovics 1988). Stoneflies (Plecoptera) published from Hungary The only general faunistical work on the Plecoptera of Hungary was published more than 30 years ago (Újhelyi 1969). This article reported 48 stonefly species according to the data of Újhelyi's own collection and published references. In that paper the author did not list three species reported in the beginning of the last century: Protonemura lateralis (Pictet, 1836) (Mocsáry 1900), Protonemura fumosa Ris, 1902 (Sátori 1939e) and Perla grandis Rambur, 1841 (Pongrácz 1914). Data about these three species probably originate from misidentification caused by uncertainty of descriptive data. These three species are not included in our list as well as an another Plecoptera species of Újhelyi's list: Leuctra geniculata (Stephens, 1835). This species was reported in lilies determination book (lilies 1955) as a member of the Great Plain's fauna, but its exact faunistical data from Hungary were not reported, and its appearance in Hungary is not likely. The occurrence of two other species Brachyptera monilicornis (Pictet, 1841) and Capnia nigra (Pictet, 1833) (Sátori 1939a) is also debatable, because other checklists also mention these two species, we also include them. Since 1969 the appearance of 9 new species has been reported, two of them (Leuctra braueri Kempny, 1898, Leuctra autumnalis Aubert, 1948) were published (Újhelyi 1983) without detailed faunistical data from the Foot of the Alps. One of these two species (Leuctra braueri Kempny, 1898) was found also in our collection in Kőszeg Mts, so the two species were included in our list. Altogether with our two new species there are 61 Plecoptera species living in Hungary. Hopefully this number will rise with another 10-15 species with the determination of more collection data and with the revision of previous determinations, which we plan to carry out in the near future. We also want to collect species at places, which have been neglected up till now. The list below summarizes Plecoptera species in Hungary. Two problematic species and two new species for the Hungarian fauna are illustrated and discussed later in details. Our localities of partlv documented and the new species are shown in the sketch map (Fig- 1).
