The dates in this paper based on new materials have been in the last 35 years. Although the elaboration of the earlier Tabanidae collection in the Department of Zoology of the Hungarian Natural History Museum recorded was carried out before the fire in 1956, and the faunistic dates were published we had not unanimous knowledge on the distribution and number of Hungarian Tabanidae species and genera. After 1956 due to the more or less systematic collecting of tabanids in our country resulted a rather rich material for Hungary containing some new and rare species for our fauna whose data were published by Majer (1981, 1984, 1985a, 19856, 1985c, 1987a, 19876, 1987c, 1988, 1991); Majer & Krcmar (1998); Majer & Mikuska (1988); Tóth (1964, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1978, 1992, 1999, 2000). This new fauna list includes all valid species which earlier have been described Aradi too. So that our country is better explored than it was in the period of Aradi, who could work although on a rich but very randomly collected material from Hungary. The supposed number of species in Hungary is about 75-78. There are voucher specimens for 61 species, and the occurrence of more than one dozen species is expected. The Tabanidae family was divided into three subfamilies (Mackerras 1954, 1955a, 19556; Chvála, Lyneborg & Moucha 1972); Pangoniinae, Chrysopsinae and Tabaninae. This paper includes the list and the distribution maps of the Pangoiinae and Chrysopsinae species in Hungary represented on the EIS UTM System international standard netmap (Figs 1-10). The detailed phenological data can be seen in the works of the authors figured at each species name. Fig. 1. Occurrence of Pangonius pyritosus (Loew, 1859) in Hungary
