BIONOMICS AND DISTRIBUTION C. modestaria is a mid-autumnal species, its flight period is September-October. The phenology show differences depending on the climate of the actual area. For example, the species appears approximately 2 weeks earlier in Kazakhstan than in Turkmenistan. Its habitats in Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are xerophilous hilly and meso-montane steppes (between 400-1600 m) with scarce shrubby vegetation (Prunus, Crataegus, Acer, etc.). The imagines (males) are attracted to artificial light, they appear around the lamp rather late at the evening, their flight is weak sluggish. Female is unknown. The species is known from four relatively distinct, smaller areas of Central Asia (central and western Kopet-Dagh Mts, the Baigacum area at the Syr-Darya, central Tien Shan - Zailisky Alatau - Mts and north-east Afghanistan). The true area, however, is probably much larger, extending to the rather low and medium high xeromontane ranges of Central Asia.
