DISCUSSION The representatives of the Plagiotrochus genus were known to associate with evergreen oaks only. Now the genus includes the first species, P. marianii, the sexual gall of which develops on a deciduous Quercus cerris. Our results are interesting from other point of view too. The provisional cladistic analysis (Pujade-Villar et al. in prep.) showed that Chilaspis Mayr genus which is tropically associated with Q. cerris only, is very closely related to Plagiotrochus. Chilaspis differs from Plagiotrochus in the scutum, which is smooth, and the scutellum is relatively more produced to metanotum. We do not know yet the phylogenetical importance of these diagnostic characters but we can affirm yet that the cladc, which includes Callirhytis, Plagiotrochus and Chilaspis, is a monophyletic group and is not a basal group in the Cynipini. Acknowledgements — We express our deepest appreciation to Dr. S. Schödl (NHMW, Vienna, Austria) for the loan of Fioriella and Plagiotrochus specimens and the supporting our studies during the stay of the first author at the NHMW. We also thank D. Bellido (University of Barcelona, Spain) for his valuable suggestions and comments on the manuscript. We are greatly indebted to the deceased Dr. F. Barbotin for the information on Plagiotrochus razeti and Dr. R. Folliot (Rennes University, France) for sending us specimens P. razeti (asexual and sexual generations) obtained experimentally by Dr. Barbotin. REFERENCES Ambrus, B.
