collected in June, July and August at 4 stations in the continental part of Croatia. Two specimens of the species were collected on the station in Borovik where they were caught on the wet soil of a forest path in an oak and plain hornbeam forest of the association Querco-Carpinetum croaticum, a few other specimens were also caught by means of a sampling net as they were circling around a red car. One male specimen was also caught at the station in Spacva on the wet soil of a forest consisting of oaks and broom of the association Genisto elate-Quercetum roboris, the air temperature was 25°C. One male of the species Tabanus quatuornotatus was collected in an afternoon in May in Bokanjacko Blato by means of a net while it was alighting on a red car parked on the edge of a wood consisting of oak-trees Quercus pubescens, the air temperature was 26°C. Several males of Tabanus tergestinus were collected at dusk while they were alighting on a red car parked in the forest consisting of oaks and white hornbeams of the Table 4.
