or yellowish). The phenomenon of reduced wing ventral markings is somewhat suggestive of Plebejus idas scudderi (Edwards, 1861), which was recognized as superficially resembling P. agitata (Staudinger, 1874) by Nabokov (19446: 110). In this case P. fyodor is also somewhat reminiscent to P. christophi, but the latter taxon is larger, its dwarf specimens are easily distinguished from P. fyodor by their consistent whitish ventral ground colour and lack of blue basal suffusion. Genitalically, P. fyodor is closest to P. melissa but uncus of male longer. Description — Male. Wings. Size (FW apex length) =11.7 mm, holotype; 10.5-11.9, paratype males (n=20); 10.3-11.9 paratype females (n=5). Dorsum slightly iridescent violaceous blue, terminal lines black, fringes white, veins slightly darker than ground colour. Ventrum dark grey becoming paler proximal to submarginal markings, basal area with suffusion of blue scales restricted basally on fore wing but reaching discoidal line on hind wing , terminal lines black, fringes white; fore wing with discal line and slightly curved series of postmedian spots with lighter grey halos, submarginal markings of orange and black lunules indistinct; hind wing with indistinct, minute subbasal spots and thin discal line, postmedian series of black spots curved, submarginal series of distinct pale orange lunules pupiled with black. Genitalia (Fig. 5). In dorsal view labides long, bases wide with pointed apices, falces turned inwardly and long, almost reaching labidal apices, valve rather wide with heavily sclerotized and slightly dentate, flaplike posterior and hooked anterior apices; aedeagus with slender but apically widening suprazonal element. In lateral view structures with humerulus of falces half as short as the forearm of the falces, but with uncus length exceeding that of the labides. Figs 1-2. Holotype of Plebejus fyodor sp. n. — 1: dorsum, 2: ventrum Female. Wings. Size (FW apex length) 10-11 mm, paratypes (n = 2). Dorsum dark tinted blue with very (3-4 mm) brown marginal border on fore wing ; costa brown on both wings, hind wing with marginal series of black spots in light grey background. Ventrum similar to male but ground colour averaging brownish, submarginal orange lunules more visible, hind wing marginal spots also pupilled with metallic scales. Genitalia (Fig. 6). Genital tube in dorsal view short but wide, without membranous formation. In lateral view flat. Type locality — China, Prov. Sichuan, Aba Zhou, Hongyuan Xian, Qionxi, 3500 m (Fig. 7). Bionomics — The type material was collected in relatively high elevation, at 3500 m. Known from the beginning of June.
