DISCUSSION Characters: Lengths of the costal, outer, and anal margins were measured on samples of P. chilensis, P. jujuyensis and P. parana and ratios derived for (1) costal margin/outer margin and (2) anal margin/outer margin (Table 1). Mean ratios for the samples of each species for each of (1) and (2) were then calculated. Regarding the salient fore wing shape apparent in the holotype of P. jujuyensis it is useful to note that measure of 13 specimens of P. chilensis (HMNH and Pena Collection) yielded a mean ratio of 1.33 for (1) (costal margin/outer margin) and a mean ratio of 1.03 for (2) (anal margin/outer margin). These means compare to 1.54 for (1) and 1.09 (2) in P. jujuyensis and 1.28 for (1) and 1.14 (2) in P. parana. Although comparisons of P. chilensis to P. jujuyensis and P. parana are not statistically reliable given the single specimens available for the latter two species, two features of these data are notable: first, the mean costal margiii/outer margin ratio (1) for P. chilensis greatly contrasts that for P. jujuyensis but closely matches that of P. parana; secondly, the anal margin/outer margin ratio (2) of all three species are similar. This suggests that the peculiar wing shape noted in known specimens of P. jujuyensis may likely prove a useful taxonomic character. Table 1.
