on distal part. Two pairs also very strong lateral carinae present, running anteriorly and only in the rostral region touching the well developed lateral rim which peters rostrally. Lateral carinae also well protruding from the surface, it seems very well in frontal view (Fig. 15). Bothridial squama large, roundish, situated below the bothridium. Prodorsa! cuticle striated between the lateral carinae medially, the outer parts smooth. Four pairs of prodorsal setae, all comparatively long and strong. Setae exa, and ro smooth, others distinctly spinose on their distal end. Interlamellar setae much longer than the three median pairs, but no great difference among them. Setae ro characteristically addpressed to the surface. Sensillus conspicuously long, straight, slightly dilated distally and with some cilium on both sides. Notogaster (Fig. 12): Long terminal fissure present. Dorsal surface distinctly striate. All notogastral setae long, slightly bacilliform, well spinose on their distal part. Setae c,, c 2 and c 3 standing conspicuously near to each other. All setae nearly equal in length. Four pairs of lyrifissures well visible. Anogenital region (Fig. 16): Well developed longitudinal ribs present on the surface of the genital plates and surface also well punctate. Median triangle large, posterior one much smaller. Eight pairs of genital, two pairs of aggenital, three pairs of anal and three pairs of adanal setae present. Among the genital setae 4 pairs very long, setiform, the other 4 anterior pairs (g-g 4 ) minute, simple. Setae ag 2 much longer than setae ag v resembling the posterior genital setae. Setae a, conspicuously long and erect, much longer than the remaining anoadanal ones. Lyrifissures iad hardly visible, minute. All legs similar to the species of the genus Euphthiracarus. Legs IV as shown in Fig. 17. Material examined — Holotype: Malagasy Republic, Antananarivo Pro v. Angavo Escarpment. Old Eucalyptus plantation replacing montane rainforest at the S side of main road between Ambatolaona and Mandraka 40 km E from the capital, at 1350-1400 m alt. 18-54.3-9'S, 47'53.6-7'E. Date: 27. August 1998. Leg. T. Pócs. No. 9891. Holotype (1638-HO-99) deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum (HNHM), Budapest, with identification number of the specimens in the Collection of Arachnida. Remarks — See the remarks after the generic diagnosis. Etymology — Named after its unique and highly specific features separating the new taxon from the genus Euphthiracarus. Rhysotritia cf. anchistea Niedbala, 1998 Niedbala described this species from the Pacific islands, but it was found also at several localities in Africa, and now in Madagascar. However, there is some uncertainly in the fact that Niedbala wrote sensillus club-like, when in the drawing from an African specimen it is setiform, i. e. without a head. The specimens from Madagascar also lack the club from the end of the sensillus. Locality — Malagasy Republic, Antananarivo Prov. Angavo Escarpment.
