Hymenozetes stellifer sp. n. (Figs 5-7) Description — Measurements: Length: 210-222 um, width: 172-179 pm. Prodorsum: Rostrum very wide, deeply excavated medially, its lateral parts convex, rounded. Rostral setae stellate, arising on the ventral surface of the rostrum in a small hollow. Lamellae wide, with complicate structure (Fig. 5). Their lateral apex elongated, very long, flagelliform, median apices roundish, connected with thinned, velum like plates. Interlamellar region partly covered by them, but distinct median lamellar margin well observable. Lamellar setae arising on the anteromedian parts of lamellae, interlamellar setae arising on the median lamellar margin. Basal part of the interlalmellar region deeply excavated, this hollow well framed. Sensillus long, directed backwards, setiform, but sligthly dilated medially, ciliated unilaterally. Lateral part of prodorsum: Rostrum conspicuously wide in lateral view (Fig. 7). Tutoria triangular with a sharp apex (apices?) each. Their surface ornamented by irregular ribs. Pedotecta 1 also vey large, its anterior margin wrinkled. On the surface of pedotecta 2-3 some marginal wrinkles also observable. Posterior part of discidium also ornamented. A distinct circumpedal carina present, but not reaching to the lateral margin of the ventral plate. Notogaster: Dorsosejugal suture interrupted medially. Fossa marginális weakly developed. Pteromorphae (Fig. 7) small, triangular. Nine pairs of notogastral setae of different lengths, c 2 longest of all, all fine, setiform. Ventral side (Fig. 6): Gnathosoma typical, the tarsus of palps bearing 7 digitiform eupathidia. Epimeral surface smooth, apodemes and epimeral borders weakly developed but sejugal ones well sclerotised. Epimeral setal formula: 3 - 1-3-3. Setae 1c originating far from pedotecta I. All epimeral setae very thin and fine. All anogenital setae simple, their formula: 6-1-4-3. Anterior pairs of genital setae five times longer than the remaining ones. Lyrifissure iad conspicuously long, curved. Legs: Typical for the genus, in the main character similar to the type species of the genus. Trochanter and femur of legs III and IV with a wide blade-like formation (keel) ventrally. Material examined — Holotype: Malagasy Republic, Toamasina Prov., Mananara Nord Biosphere Reserve and National Park. Lowland rainforest on the E slopes of Mahavoho Hill (very wet types along Manahovo River, with many tree ferns, palms and Pandanus ssp., less humid on slopes) at 220-300 m alt. 16*27'S, 49-46.9-47.5'E. Date: 14-15. Aug. 1998. Leg. T. Pócs. No. 9878; 1 paratype: from the same sample, 1 paratype: Malagasy Republic, Antananarivo Prov. Angavo Escarpment. Old Eucalyptus plantation replacing montane rainforest at the S side of main road between Ambatolaona and Mandraka 40 km E from the capital, at 1350-1400 m alt. 18'54.3-9'S, 47'53.6-7'E. Date: 27. August 1998. Leg. T. Pócs. No. 9891. Holotype (1634-HO-99) and 2 paratypes (1634-PO-99) deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest, with identification number of the specimens in the Collection of Arachnida (HNHM). Remarks — On the basis of the prodorsal structure the new species is well ranged in the genus Hymenobelba Balogh, 1962. (Balogh 19626). All species belonging in this genus were described from Madagascar. This new species may well be distinguished from the others by the flagelliform end on the distal part of the lamellae and by the deep hollow at the base of the interlamellar region. Etymology — named after the form of the rostral setae.
