lected specimens belong to the genera Tabanus, accompained by other genera in the following order: Atylotus, Haematopota, Hybomitra, Philipomyia, Dasyrhamphis, Chrysops, Therioplectes and Heptatoma (Table 3). The most commonspecies in the Mediterranean part of Croatia is Tabanus exclusus with 21.31%, followed by Tabanus tergestinus with 14.98%, Atylotus loewianus with 9.98%, Haematopota pandazisi with 9.46% and Tabanus bromius with 7.32%. These 5 species represent 63.05% of the fauna of the Mediterranean part of Croatia, whereas all the other 57 species amount to 36.95%. Based on the examination of the collected specimens, the literature and a study of the J. Mikuska collection 202 male specimens were determined, belonging to 24 species (Table 2). Most numerous were the males of the species Tabanus shannonellus with 29 specimens, followed by Dasyrhamphis umbrinus, Tabanus tergestinus, Tabanus glaucopis, Tabanus exclusus, Philipomyia graeca, Dasyrhamphis anthracinus and Tabanus quatuornotatus. These 8 species represent 162 specimens, while males of all the other species account for the remaining 40 specimens. In my sample, there are 105 males, most of which were collected on yellow blooms of the plants Paliurus spina christi and Clematis flamula, or alighting on a red car, or hovering in the air at about 1 m above the ground. A few specimens were also collected on the ground and on the windows of catering facilities. The remaining 97 male specimens were taken from literature and from the J. Mikuska collection.
