flagellomere, further flagellomeres progressively shortening so that penultimate flagellomere 1.5 times as long as broad. - Head in dorsal view (Fig. 62) transverse, 1.75 times as broad as long, eye clearly shorter than (or as long as) temple, latter rounded, occiput not excavated. Ocelli small and round, OOL one-fourth longer than POL. Clypeus twice as wide as high medially, its lower margin laterally concave, medially truncate (Fig. 63). Eye in lateral view 1.65 times as high as wide, temple beyond eye somewhat wider than eye and ventrally slightly broadening. Head polished, face medially punctate. Mesosoma in lateral view 1.5 times as long as high. Notaulix deep and crenulate, precoxal suture wide and crenulate. Propodeum rugose, laterally with a pair of relatively strong and pointed tubercule. - Hind femur 4.1 times as long as broad distally (Fig. 64). Fore wing 0.8 times as short as body. Pterostigma (Fig. 65) 2.8 times as long as wide and issuing r clearly distally from its middle. Marginal cell along 1-R1 a bit shorter than pterostigma, 2-R1 shorter than half length of pterostigma and approaching tip of wing. Carapace in dorsal view (Fig. 66) 1.65 times as long as broad at second suture. Pair of basal keels extending to fore half of first tergite; first and second sutures distinct. Second tergite medially slightly longer than first tergite; third tergite longer than second tergite. Hind margin of third tergite moderately excised (Fig. 67). Tergites 1-2 strongly striate, tergite 3 striate, medially more extended strio-rugulose than tergite 2 (Fig. 66). Carapace in lateral view less high, three times as long as high behind (Fig. 68, see arrows). Body black. Palpi pale. Scape, pedicel and flagellomeres 1-2 reddish yellow, flagellomeres 3-5 darkening and rest of flagellomeres blackish brown. Tegula reddish yellow. Legs reddish yellow, hind coxa dorsally brownish, tarsi faintly brownish fumous. Wings subfumous, pterostigma brown, veins light (or opaque) brown. Description of the six males — Body 3.2-4 mm long (3.2: 2d, 3.5: 1 d, 3.8: Id, 4: 2d). Antenna with 24-25 antennomeres (24: 3d, 25: Id; 2d with broken flagellum). Head in dorsal view 1.7-1.9 times as broad as long (1.7: Id, 1.75: Id, 1.8: 3 d, 1.9: Id), eye usually clearly shorter than temple (Fig. 62). Pterostigma 2.2-2.8 times as long as wide (2.2: Id, 2.5: Id, 2.65: 2d, 2.8: 2d). Tergites 2-3 medially either rugulose (Fig. 66) or strongly striate as elsewhere. Description of the five females — Similar to the males. Body 3.1-4 mm long (3.1: 19, 3.5: 29, 3.8: 12, 4: 12). Antenna with 21-25 antennomeres (21: 12, 24: 22, 25: 22). Head in dorsal view 1.8-1.9 times as broad as long (1.8: 32, 1.9: 22), eye somewhat longer than temple (Fig. 69). Pterostigma 2.1-2.6 times as long as wide (2.1: 12, 2.5: 12, 2.6:32). Carapace 1.4-1.6 times as long as broad at second suture (1.4: 12, 1.5: 12, 1.6: 32). Carapace strongly striate, tergites 2-3 medially either rugulose (Fig. 66) or strongly striate as elsewhere. Hind margin of third tergite excised (Fig. 70). Carapace in lateral view high, 2.9 times as long as high behind (Fig. 71, see arrows). Ovipositor sheath shorter than carapace, i.e. as long as hind tarsomeres 1-3 or 1^4 combined. Host unknown. Distribution: Hungary, Greece, Italy. Triaspis sulcatus (Szépligeti) is nearest to T. obscurellus (Nees, 1816) (Palaearctic Region) and T. pallipes (Nees, 1816) (western Palaearctic Region), the three species are distinguished by the features keyed: 1 (2) Tergites 1-2 strongly striate, carapace elongate-oval (Fig. 66). Pterostigma issuing r clearly distally from its middle, pterostigma itself (2.2—)2.6— 2.8 times as long as wide (Fig. 65). Eye in dorsal view either as long as (2) or at most a
