Second tergite transverse, three times as wide behind as long medially, third tergite somewhat longer than second tergite, suture between tergites 2-3 feebly bisinuate (Fig. 24) or straight. Hypopygium in lateral view pointed (cf. Fig. 9). Ovipositor sheath long, (1.8-) 2 times as long as body. Ground colour of body black. Antenna black; palpi brown to blackish brown. Face rusty, sometimes with black(ish) suffusion (2 2). Vertex and temple with faint rusty tint; margin of eye usually reddish. Tegula reddish to rusty brown. Tergites laterally more or less reddish yellow to rusty. Legs blackish, fore and middle femora, tibiae + tarsi dark rusty to reddish, base of hind tibia usually reddish. Wings brown fumous, pterostigma opaque brown to dark brown, veins brownish. Male: Similar to the female. Body 3.6-3.8 mm long. Head in dorsal view less trans­verse, 1.62 times as broad as long (1 d). Antenna somewhat longer than head and meso­soma combined and with 27 antennomeres (1 d). First tergite 1.4-1.5 times as long as broad behind. Second tergite almost as long as third tergite. Body with more extended black or blackish colour. Legs also rather dark coloured. Host unknown. Distribution — France, Hungary, Romania (Transylvania). Bracon dolichurus Marshall is nearest to B. fumatus Szépligeti, their distinction see in the key, couplets 10(11) - 11(10), p. 276.
