Beside small (1-3 ha) clearings, pastures and clearing meadows are represented by about 10% of the area. These habitats were proved as the most important sites for the Orthoptera assemblages. Among them the Tokaj Hill (TO) in the south and the Pusté Pole (PP) in the north are important examples for such types of habitat which harbour specific and relatively rich Orthoptera assemblages. The following list contains short characteristic of the 16 collecting localities (for abbreviations see also Table 1) with the approximative size of the sites. I. TO - Tokaj: Tokaj Hill (Kopasz-hegy), 180-512 m a.s.L, S-SW xeric forest steppe slopes with Corneto-Querceîum and secondary loss vegetation, 20 ha 2a. PA - Sárospatak: Páncél-hegy, 140-154 m a.s.l, relatively isolated xeric steppe on SW slopes with scattered bushes (Rosa, Crataegus) and rocks 2 ha 2b. LE - Sátoraljaújhely: Humid meadow in the NW edge of "Long-erdő" (Long-wood) - gallery forest along the river Bodrog, 95 m a.s.l. 2 ha 3. MA - Sátoraljaújhely: Boglyaska 370-380 m a.s.l. SE exposed xeric forest steppe locality, 0,5 h and Magas hegy 400-514 m a.s.l., N exposed clearing in beech forest, 2 ha 4. GE - Újhuta: Gerendás-rét, 500 m a.s.L, 3 clearings with scattered bushy (Rubus) vegetation in mixed beech-spruce forests, 2 ha 5. KH - Kishuta: Komlós-völgy (valley), 230 m a.s.l., humid meadow along creek with scattered (Salix, Calluna) bushes, 2 ha 6. FU - Füzér: Bodó-rét, Hosszú-rét and Nyírjes, 350-600 m a.s.L, S-SE mesic mead­ows and pastures with scattered bushes, 3+5+7 ha 7. LA - Füzér: László-tanya and Oláh-rét, 650-660 m a.s.L, isolated mountain (mown and unmown) mesic meadows in beech forests. 1 km of the Slovak border; the most northern point of Hungary, 3 ha 8. MH - Slanská Huta: Marocká hola, 580-680 m a.s.L, three isolated clearings and pas­tures in beech forests, 1 km north of the Velky Milic (=Nagy-Milic, 893 m a.s.L), 2 ha 9a. SX - Slanec: castle hill, 420-529 m a.s.L, S-SW, very steep xeric steppe slope with Corneto-Quercetum and N exposed oak - hornbeam (disturbed) forest, 2 ha 9b SW - Slanec: Nature Reservation Trstinové jazero, 350-355 m a.s.L, mesic and humid meadow near to a small lake partly with ruderal elements, 2 ha 10. BO - Ruskov: Bogota, 650-720 m a.s.L, 3 bushy clearing meadows in beech forests, with ruderal elements along the road, 2 ha II. VK - Vysná Kamenica: 340-355 m a.s.L, xeric steppe hill (near to the village) with scattered Crataegus and Rosa bushes, isolated habitat in agricultural landscape, 2 ha 12. MA - Mudrovce: Makovica transect, 650-840 m a.s.L, three isolated clearings along the road to Makovica-hill in beech forests, 2 ha 13. PP - Zlatá Bana: Pusté Pole, 620-700 m a.s.L, flat and slightly S-SE exposed mesic and mesic and humid mountain meadows with an isolated mesoxeric hill (Nature Reserve Pusté Pole), 15 ha 14. SI - Zlatá Bana: transect Dubnik, Grimov laz and Simonka, 880-1092 m a.s.L, mesic mountain meadows being isolated in beech forests with scattered Rubus and other bush­es along turistic trail, 2 ha
