ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK LIX 1998 pp. 125-130 The history of the Symphyta fauna of the Carpathian Basin (Hymenoptera). Part II L. Zombori and M. Pascu The history of the Symphyta fauna of the Carpathian Basin (Hymenoptera). Part II. Authors give a list of sawflies housed in the Brukenthal Museum, Sibiu, that had not been identified and published earlier. The first contribution of this series of papers briefly discussed the climatic changes that had taken place in the Carpathian Basin influencing the formation of the Symphyta fauna there (Zombori and Ermolenko 1997). In the final paragraph we indicated that the follow-up papers would give lists of sawfly species unpublished before captured recently in the mountainous regions of Transylvania (Romania) and the northern section of the East Carpathian Mountains (Ukraine). This paper presents a list of species housed in the Brukenthal Museum of Natural History (Sibiu) that were collected in the past decades, mostly in the 1960-1980ies. Specimens deposited in the same institution and collected some sixty years (between 1890 and 1953) prior to these termini were identified by X. Scobiola-Palade (1967) and V. Ionescu (1969) and some of them later were listed by the junior author (M. Pascu 1978, 1982). The great majority of the specimens entered in this list was collected by Eckbert Schneider, while a smaller part by the junior author. Stray specimens also found their way into the Hymenoptera collection secured by the following persons: E. Worell, C. Stanescu, A. Müller, Klemmens, Plattner and Ziwanowits. More precise details about the Symphyta collection of the Brukenthal Museum may be found in the papers of the junior author (Pascu 1978, 1982). The junior author partly identified the hereunder listed material (Pascu 1983), which part is also revised here.
