We collected three species, which have not been found in the Great Hungarian Plain so far. These were: Abax parallelus (Duftschmid, 1812) in Hungary while A. parallelus (Duftschmid, 1812), Carabus intricatus Linnaeus, 1761 and Cychrus caraboides (Linnaeus, 1758) in the Ukraine (Table 1). Abax parallelus (Duftschmid, 1812) is frequent in the forests (mainly beech, hornbeam and oak) of the hills and mountains. Carabus intricatus Linnaeus, 1761 is a characteristic species of closed deciduous forests (beech and oak-hornbeam) of the hills and mountains in Transdanubia and the Northern Mountains. Cychrus caraboides (Linnaeus, 1758) is an inhabitant of the cooler parts of the mountain regions, mainly in beech and oak-hornbeam forests (Szél 1996).
