subconvex, broader than long (8 : 6). Head slightly dilated behind eyes. ITD : ICD = 3:1. Mesoscutellum pulvinate with a blunt apex; appendage carinated. Mesepisternum obtusely raised with blunt apex. Mesosternum without thorns. Apical tooth of claw (Fig. 10) longer than subapical. Metabasitarsus shorter than following three joints combined. ITAS : MB : OATS = 2 : 4 : 1.5. Metafemur shorter than metatibia. Head densely punctured with large and shallow punctures, on and around frontal area, postocellar area with a very fine microsculpture along its lateral aspects. Mesonotum finely punctured, as is mesoscutellum. Appendage with regular, large and shallow punctures. Metanotum with a few scattered punctures. Mesepisternum with large, shallow and confluent punctures. Propodeum and remaining tergites distinctly microstriated. Lancet as in Fig. 15 with 22 serrulae having 2 AST and 9-10 PST. Male - Unknown. Holotype - Female, Sikkim, Gangtok, 1700 m, 18. V. 1993. Paratypes - 7 females with same data as of holotype, 7 females Sikkim, Lachung, 2800 m, 11. V. 1985. Population variation - None. Distribution - India: Sikkim. Remarks - The species Tenthredo sikkimensis sp. n. is related to T. pulchra Jakovlev, but has certain distinctions as: mandible black with pale stripe in T. sikkimensis sp. n. (entirely yellowish white in T. pulchra); tibiae and tarsi brown in T. sikkimensis sp. n. (pitch black in 77. pulchra); antenna 3.0 * head width in 77 sikkimensis sp. n. (2.1 x head width in 77. pulchra). Etymology - The species is named after State Sikkim in which its type locality falls.
