Labrum broader than long (4 : 3) with subacuminate anterior margin. Malar space 0.75 * diameter of median ocellus. LID : IDMO : EL = 2 : 2.5 : 2; OOL : POL : OCL = 2.5 : 1 : 2.1. Frontal area at the level of eyes. Supra-antennal tubercles elevated and confluent with similar frontal ridges. Median fovea with an elevated bottom in anterior half, narrowing in middle and broadening slightly with shallow flat bottom in posterior half. Circum-, inter- and postocellar furrows clear. Lateral furrows broad, deep, excurved and almost reaching hypothetical hind margin of head. Postocellar area convex, broader than long as 4 : 3. Head narrowing behind eyes. ITD : ICD = 2.5 : 1. Mesoscutellum roundly raised with a blunt apex; appendage carinate. Mesepisternum obtusely raised to a pointed apex; mesosternum without thorns. Apical tooth of tarsal claw (Fig. 7) longer than subapical one. Metabasitarsus equal to following three joints combined. IATS : MB : OATS = 2 : 4.5 : 1.7. Metafemur shorter than metatibia. Head subshining, minutely and irregularly punctured. Mesonotum punctured like head. Appendage with a few small punctures. Metanotum and scutellum almost impunctate. Metepisternum almost impunctate. Abdomen uniformly microstriated. Lancet as in Fig. 12 with 25 serrulae, each serrula having 2 AST and 10 PST. Male - Unknown. Holotype - Female, Nagaland, Zunhebotto, 1874 m, 16. V. 1993. Paratypes - 10 females with same data as of holotype. Population variation - None. Distribution - India, Nagaland. Remarks - Species Tenthredo nefaensis sp. n. is somewhat related to T. lucida (Konow), but it is marked by certain differences which include: postocellar area convex, broader than long (4 : 3) in 77. nefaensis sp. n. (flat, twice wider than long in 77. lucida); lateral teeth of clypeus truncate in 77 nefaensis sp. n. (more or less obtusely rounded in T. lucida); only posterior half of mesoscutellum black in 77. nefaensis sp. n. (mesoscutellum entirely black in T. lucida). Etymology - The species is named after the abbreviated form of the region NEFA (north-eastern frontier area) in which its type locality falls. Tenthredo balbiri sp. n. (Figs 3, 8, 13, 17, 20) Female - Average length 14.5 mm. Body golden to reddish yellow, dark brown to black are antenna except scape, mandible tip, anterior margin of clypeus, deflexed sides of tergites 2-3, rest of tergites with some and distal joints of pro-, meso- and metalegs except coxae and trochanters. Wings yellowish hyaline, apex of fore wing distinctly infuscated up to distal end of stigma with unsharp limit, costa, stigma and venation fulvous. Antenna equiform, 2.8 x head width; segments 3 and 4 almost equal. Clypeus (Fig. 3) roundly incised up to 1 /5th of its medial length with small lateral teeth. Labrum broader than long (6 : 5) with rounded anterior margin. Malar space 1.2 x diameter of median ocellus. LID : IDMO : EL = 2 : 3.5 : 3.1 ; OOL : POL : OCL = 3.5 : 1 : 2.6. Frontal area below level of eyes. Supra-antennal tubercles elevated and confluent with similar frontal ridges. Median fovea broad and shallow. Circum-, inter- and postocellar furrows dis-
