ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK LVII 1996 pp. 285-290 New data to the Hungarian tardigrade fauna with a revised list of species B. Vargha New data to the Hungarian tardigrade fauna with a revised list of species — The author enumerates 13 Tardigrada species which are new to the Hungarian fauna and was collected between 1990 and 1995. The new list of the 120 species of the Hungarian tardigrades contains the taxonomic changes and new data from the last Hungarian tardigrade fauna list prepared in 1985. In 1879 only three, in 1897 four, in 1910 seven tardigrade species were known from Hungary (Iharos 1937). In 1937 Iharos reported 26 species as literature data and 39 species as the result his own research on the territory of historical Hungary. In 1956 the Hungarian fauna comprised 43 species (Iharos 1956), in 1967 and 1985 the Hungarian tardigrade list presented 100 and 101 species, respectively (Iharos 1967, 1985). In the last five years the following tardigrade species were ascertained from different Hungarian samples. (Data of the general distribution by Mclnnes (1994).) 1. Macrobiotus ovidii Bartos, 1937 — Hungarian localities: Hetvehely, moss from stone, sample collected by the author (12 September, 1992); Nagykanizsa, moss from soil, sample collected by the author (23 March, 1995). Differences from the descriptions: The first macroplacoid is shorter (pt 7.14; 6.25), the third is a little longer (pt 14.29; 12.50), the ratio of the pharynx length and the macroplacoid row is a little bigger (2.91).
