Recently the subfamily was revised resulting seven Sigalphus species distributed in the world of which four occur in the Palaearctic Region, one in Europe. Certain controversies concerning the judgement of the validity of a few taxon names are to be ascertained (van Achterberg 1995, Sharkey and Janzen 1995).
