First record of the genus Nematus Panzer (Hymenoptera, Symphyta, Tenthredinidae: Nematinae) with four new species from India M. S. Saini and A. S. Chambal First record of the genus Nematus Panzer (Hymenoptera, Symphyta, Tenthredinidae: Nematinae) with four new species from India - Five species of the genus Nematus Panzer, out of which four are new (Nematus maculipodus sp. n„ N. brunniventris sp. n., N. kaleri sp. n. and N. fulvidus sp. n.) and one (N. nigricornis Lepeletier) as first record are reported from India. All the species have been described and illustrated on a uniform pattern. An identification key is provided for the species dealt herewith. INTRODUCTION Genus Nematus was erected by Panzer in 1801 based on Tenthredo (Nematus) lucida as its type species. Under this genus, so far, only three species have been recorded from the Oriental region, which includes two from Pakistan and one from Burma. In the present contribution five species are described, out of which four are new and one as first record from India. N. nigricornis constituting the first record is mainly distributed in the Holarctic region. Holotypes are presently in the collections of the authors but will be deposited in the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa National Collections, New Delhi, India, while paratypes are deposited in the Department of Zoology, Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Abbreviations used in the text are: EL - eye length, IATS - inner apical tibial spur, IDMO - interocular distance at the level of median ocellus, LID - lower interocular distance, MB - metabasitarsus, OATS - outer apical tibial spur, OCL - ocello-occipital line, POL - postocellar line, UCL - oculo-ocellar line, UOL - oculo-occipital line.
