A deep, montane brook-valley with various types of forest habi­tats and with large patches of plantated coniferous trees. Lepidoptera collected by three portable light-traps and at light; 19.30-24 h. List of Noctuidae: Axylia putris sicca, Diarsia ruficauda, D. canescens, Cerastis pal­lescens, Sarcopolia illoba, Orthosia ella, O. cedermarki, O. carnipennis, Clavipalpula aurariae, Panolis japonica, Mythimna perstriata, M. inanis, M. radiata, M. flavostig­ma, Lithophane pruinosa, Acronicta strigosa, A. rumicis, A. alni, Panthea coenobita, Xanthomantis Cornelia, Colocasia mus, Euplexia lucipara, Athetis cinerascens, Nola confusalis, Pseudoips sylpha, P. fagana, Macdunnoughia crassisigna, M. purissima, Lygephila recta, Scedopla diffusa, Hypersypnoides astrigera, Dysgonia mandschurica, Rivula inconspicua, Rhynchina cramboides, R. kengkalis, Bomolocha zilla, Hydrillodes funeralis, H. pacifica. A narrow, gorge-like rocky valley with a small brook with dense herbaceous and shrubby vegetation and with old mixed forests. Lepidoptera collected at a white screen illuminated by a 125 W mercury vapour lamp and by three portable light-traps, 19.45-00.30 h. List of Noctuidae: Heliothis armigera, Axylia putris, Diarsia canescens, D. ruficauda, Xestia c-nigrum, Clavipalpula aurariae, Mythimna radiata, M. flavostigma, Cucullia elongata, Euplexia lucipara, Athetis stellata, A. cinerascens, Earias roseifera, Atacira hamulatrix, Hypersypnoides astrigera, Ercheia niveostrigata, Mocis annetta, Lygephila recta, Colobochyla salicalis, Rivula inconspicua, Hypena tristalis, Hydrillodes morosa, H. pacifica, H. repugnalis, Herminia grisealis, H. innocens. Halla-san, the plateau crossed by the Yongshil route, 1650-1700 m, 126°31'E, 33 0 21'N, 01.05.1994. Soil and moss samples taken from the edge of a peat bog bordered by Rhododendron bushes and Larix-Abies-Betula forest patches. No. 1698. Same site and data, mosses and lichens collected from rocks bordering the plateau of the highest regions of the Halla-san. No. 1699. Prov. Kyongsang, Mts Pohyonsan, at the forest experimental station, between Wolmae and Pohyon-sa, 600 m, 128°59'E, 36WN, 24.04.1994. A chrysomelid beetle and a coccid specimen collected during the day.
