The species is distributed in North and Central Europe, in Hungary not frequent though locally occurs in higher num­bers. According to the literature its flying period extends to September - October. A. ab­dominalis represents one of the few sawfly species whose foodplant is the leaves of oak (Quercus robur) (Zombori 1982: 74). These ecological characteristics coincide with the trapping results in Síkfőkút.
