wing occupies half of width of clavus basally (narrowing apicad), subapical 2/3 of cua and 1st apical cell, everywhere getting lighter apicad. Apical half of 2nd, 3rd and almost whole 4th apical cell also slightly smoked (Fig. 95). A broad brown medial streak on upper part of whitish face narrowing before anteclypeus. An oval dark brown patch occupying almost whole surface of anteclypeus. End of female valva pale. Length M 4.3 and 4.8, F 4.5 mm. Penis stem broad, laterally compressed, with a dorsal extension (Figs 89, 90). Anal tube appendage lamellate, elongated, sinuate at ventral end (Figs 97, 98). Ventral pygofer appendage long, narrow, slightly curved caudad apically (Figs 99, 100). Comparison. The new species is similar to A. curvatus Dwor. and differs mainly by lamellate and sinuate anal tube appendage and longer and thinner ventral pygofer appendage. Alebroides rubrus sp. n. (Figs 47-54) Type material. - Holotype male: India, Meghalaya, Shillong, Botanic Garden, 3. XL 1981, C.A. Viraktamath (in BMNH). - Paratypes: 2 F, Sikkim, Labrang, forest, 18002000 m, 8. m. 1991,1. Dworakowska (in SMTD and NMNH). Head and upper side of thorax vivid red, thorax beneath and legs paler. Antennae tan outside, concolorous with face on the inside. Sometimes a narrow paler streak in midline of scutum. Eyes dark grey-tan to blackish. Fore wing vivid red except on pre-nodal part (the grey-brownish area at the end of m cell expanded cephalad). Veins on postnodal part of fore wing vary in colour from vivid red cephalad to reddish-grey caudad. Abdominal sternites brown with yellowish-brown lateral margins. Tergites blackishbrown with reddish margins. Coleostron (coxal part of female pygofer) brown ventrally, red dorsally, valva red ventrally, brown dorsally at apex. Length M 4. 35, F 4.60 mm. Male genitalia infuscated. Penis stem with large atrium and comparatively short manubrium (Figs 47, 48). Anal tube appendage (Figs 49, 53) and ventral pygofer appendage (Figs 53, 54) small and not well sclerotized. Paramere apex solid (Fig. 50). Subgenital plate broad, bearing numerous, quite long setae. The row of marginal microsetae starts apicad of its midlength (Fig. 51). Basal abdominal apodemes of male reach end of 7th sternite (Fig. 57). Comparison. Distinctive colouration and characters of male genital apparatus of A. rubrus sp. n. allow to recognize it easily and differentiate from any known species of the genus. Affinities, however, are not determinable for the time being. Alebroides sinuatus Dwor. 4 M, 1 F, Sikkim, Rumtek, 1700 m, lamp domes, 1990; 1 M, 3 F, Gangtok, N H-wy, 1800 m, Artemisia, 3.
