INTRODUCTION The aim of this review is to provide a framework for understanding the diversity of Eastern Himalayan fauna. 138 species are originally supplemented to the faunistic list of Sikkim, 87 of them and 11 genera are new to science. Presented are results of my collecting during 10 days of March 1991 in 6 locations (Central Sikkim: Gangtok, Rumtek, Phodong and Labrang and W Sikkim: Pelling and Geizing). The sample from lamp domes from Rumtek is dated 1990 despite it has been taken in March 1991. Eight specimens from Singtam were collected by Dr C. A. Viraktamath, one from Gopaldhara is from collection of the British Museum and one from Bongli from the collection of Zoological Survey of India in Calcutta. The list is completed with all faunistic data existing in literature. Type-series of species which descriptions were ready in manuscript before completing this study contain also material from other countries.
