S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 54. (Budapest, 1993)

Remarks: The new species is distinguished from all heretofore known Histiostoma species by the unique shape of the notogaster and its straight sejugal apodemes. Histiostoma bananai sp. n. Measurements. - Length: 187-200 pm, breadth: 131-156 urn. Dorsal side (Fig. 8): Propodosoma medially elongated into a cone. Inner and outer pairs of propodosomatic hairs originating approximately along a common line extending up and parallel the dorsosejugal suture. Surface of propodosoma ornamented with transverse lines laterally and short rugae medially, in the coniform part. Dorsosejugal region and surface of hysterosoma covered with longitudinal and regular lines decurrent parallel along the surface, heavy in dorsosejugal region and the lateral sides of hysterosoma, hysterosomatic hairs short and simple. Ventral side (Fig. 9): Infacapitulum of gnathosoma (Fig. 10) conspicuously long, longer than wide, narow medially and wide basally. Solenidia long, palpi scarcely visible. First sternal apodeme comparatively short, ending free, intermediate sternal apodeme undeveloped. Apodemes 2 hardly touching arc of sejugal apodemes, apodemes 3 visible. Arcs of apodemes 3 and sejugal apodemes open medially. Posterior sternal apodeme short. Epimeres I with a well-developed line decurrent from ap. 1 to ap. 2. Epimeres 1, 3 and 4 with well-developed suctorial disk each. Terminal suctorial plates also large, all disks well recognizable. Legs: Adhering hair of tarsus of legs I (Fig. 11) spoonshaped with long peduncle, on legs II (Fig. 12) phylliform, its apex slightly elongated. Solenidium e undiscernible in solenidial group of legs I, coi , arcuate considerably shorter and thinner than <pi and 92 (Fig. 11). Legs II with toi longer than 91. Terminal hairs of legs III and IV simple and thin (Figs 13 and 14), especially that on legs IV long. Solenidia (pi short on legs IV, and long on legs III. Seta /' on legs III and IV long, longer on tarsus of legs IV, originating on the base of tarsus of both legs. Material examined: Holotype: Assiut, Egypt, extracted from banana suckers, 15.07.1992, leg. S. A. Eraky, 7 paratypes: from same sample. Holotype and 3 paratype deposited in Plant Protection Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University and 4 paratypes in the Arachnoidea Collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Remarks: The final placing of the species can be made only after further revisional work, its relegation to the genus Histiostoma is still problematic. The new species differs from its congeners by the shape of propodosoma and the ornamentation on the dorsal surface, the shape of apodemes distinguishes it also from all other related Histiostoma taxa. Hormosianoetus mahunkai sp. n. Measurements: Length: 128-150 pm, breadth: 100-109 um. Dorsal side (Fig. 15): Propodosoma triangular, with a well discernible definite line decurrent approximately parallel with body margin. Inner pair of hairs arising considerably anterior to outer pair, together with these, all hysterosomatic hairs short and thin. Surface of propodosoma smooth, dorsosejugal region ornamented by striae extending in breadth. Surface of hysterosoma ornamented by longitudinal lines regular along the surface. Notogaster with one pair of pore like structure on the anterolateral region. Ventral side (Fig. 16): Gnathosoma comparatively short, its infracapitulum oblong (Fig. 17), palpi well discernible, solenidia long and curving inside, seta p visible, situated behind palpi. Apodeme 1 well chitinized, surounded with punctate black halo. Apodemes well developed, but anterior sternal apodeme short, ending free, ap. 2 reaching arc of sejugal
