Gyulai (Received November 1, 1988) Owlet moth (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) material from Hungarian light traps. - A faunistical evaluation of the Noctuid material of plant protection light traps is given. INTRODUCTION Fourteen light traps were operated by the Station for Plant Protection and Agrochemistry of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county and state farms. Most of them have worked for many years. In every year, the light traps started working in the beginning of April (generally on the 1st of April) and finished functioning on the 31st of October. In the first years normal lamps, later Hgl lamps (80 W) were used. The light traps were erected in the following localities (Fig. 1): 1. Ruzsin-szőlő, Avas near Miskolc city, (R.): Hilly country, with fruit gardens and remains of steppe and oak forests. In recent years it has been built in. 2. Görömböly, Miskolc nr. city, (G.): - Hilly country with fruit gardens and remains of steppe, cornfields. 3. Felsőzsolca, Miskolc, nr. city, (F.): Lowlands; the light trap was in a fruit garden of a big farm. 4. Nyékládháza, (Ny.): - Hilly country, with fruit gardens, remains of steppe, some oak trees. Cornfields, ruderals. 5. Mezőkeresztes, (M.): Lowlands. Agricultural area, grazing lands. Ruderals. 6. Klementina, (K): Lowlands. Agricultural area with grazing lands, planted forests, valley of a stream. 7. Mezőnagymihály, (M.): Lowlands. Agricultural area with grazing lands, planted forests. Ruderals. 8. Karola szőlő, Igrici, nr. (I.): Sandy lowlands. Agricultural area. Trap was in a vineyard of a big farm. 9. Mezőcsát-Ároktő, (Á.): Sandy lowlands. Trap was in a vineyard of a big farm. Grazing lands and marshes. 10. Bodrogszegi, (B.): The trap was in the village, in a fruit garden. Agricultural area, vineyard, marshes, not so far vegetation of rocks. Ruderals. 11. Bánréve, (Ba.): The trap was in the village. Fruit gardens, cornfields. 12. Hidasnémeti, (H.): Gardens, grazing lands, wet places. Ruderals.
