The original description does not allow to guess the relationship of this species owing to the poor illustrations and description based on these illustrations. Empoascanara (s. str.) viniasp. n. (Figs 210-217) Vertex sordid yellowish with quite characteristic dark patch at its anterior margin centrally. The patch is composed of two small semilunar dark brown marks near the base and two lighter, smaller, irregularly shaped and not well defined ones more anteriorly; vertex caudad of the dark patch sordid whitish. Pronotum tan or sordid yellow at its anterior margin, dark grey centrally and on the broad transverse fascia at its hind margin, slightly brownish-grey at sides. Scutum and scutellum sordid yellowish-grey. Face tan centrally, sordid whitish at margins of genae. Anteclypeus brownish, the darkest at the tip. Frontoclypeus sordid brownish, the darkest at its lower margin where it is darker than the upper part of anteclypeus. Fore wing brownish-grey with an olivaceous tint on prenodal part, 2nd apical cell slightly lighter. Length â 2.2, 9 2.5 mm. Male genitalia show close similarity to E. (s. str.) tytaniae Dworakowska, and E. (s. str.) wasata Dworakowska, from both of which the new species differs by branched lateral terminal penis appendages (Figs 210, 212) and slim upper appendage at pygofer (Figs 211, 213, 215, 216). Holotype male and paratype 9, Indonesia, N Sumatra, Ketembe, 350 m, 30. V. 1990, I. Dworakowska. (SMTD). Empoascanara (s. str.) yaya sp. n. (Figs 218-225). Externally quite similar to E. (s. str.) vinia sp. n. differing by a larger darkening on vertex. The darkening consists of two brown to blackish patches that in some very dark specimens are almost fused to each other, in others fused and slightly expanded caudad in the midline forming a triangular or (in some females) even pentangular patch. Face lighter than in E. vinia, wax-field in the fore wing slightly infuscated. Length 6 9 2.2-2.4 mm. Male genitalia resemble those of E. (s. str.) tytaniae Dworakowska differing by the broader penis, its upper lateral appendages angulately curved mesad and the tip provided with a small medial extension (Fig. 219). Upper pygofer appendage with pointed tip (Figs 220, 221, 224, 225) rather than the blunt one as in E. tytaniae. Holotype male and paratypes 22 ó*ó*, 23 9 9, Indonesia, N Sumatra, Kandang
