FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGAJIICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYE kjfcj LUI 1992 p. 189-191 A new Coniopteryx species from India (Neuroptera: Coniopterygidae) By Gy. Sziráki (Received Marsh 15, 1992) A new Coniopteryx species from India (Neuroptera: Coniopterygidae). - A new Coniopteryx species - Coniopteryx (Xeroconiopteryx) topali sp.n. - is described from the north-western coast of the Bay of Bengal. In the insect material collected by Dr. György Topái in 1967, in India, I have found a single coniopterygid male, which represents a hitherto undescribed species. The natural vegetation of the collecting site (a tourist bungalow on the seashore at Konarak, on the north-western coast of the Bay of Bengal) consisted of graminaceous and succulent plants. Coniopteryx (Xeroconiopteryx) topali sp. n. (Figs 1-5) Holotype: male; India, Orissa district, Konarak, 19.53 N/86.08 E (ENE of Puri), as died insect from a lamp of a tourist bungalow, December 26, 1967, leg.: Gy. Topái - deposited in the collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Head brown, eyes large and black. Antennae 28-segmented, dark brown. First flagellar segment twice as broad as long, the other basal flagellar segments about three times as broad as long. Scale-like hairs are present on the whole surface of pedicel, and they make a very thick whorl on the apical half of the flagellar segments. There are some scale-like hairs also on the basal half of the flagellar segments. Ordinary hairs form two irregular whorls on flagellar segments. Setae are present. Apical segment of maxillary palpi thin and definitely longer than the third and fourth segments together. Thorax brown with dark brown shoulder spots. Legs light brown. Membrane of both wings fuscous. Length of fore wing 1.6 mm, of hind wing 1.4 mm. In hind wing no cross-vein R4+5-M. Marginal fringers of hind wing basocaudally not longer than elsewhere on hind margin. Male genitalia: as in Figs 1-5. Hypandrium in lateral view about three times as high as broad at processus lateralis. Apodeme along the anterior margin medially weakly chitinized. Processus lateralis short and irregularly rounded. Processus terminális in ventral view rounded triangular. Median apical incision very broad and shallow, with straight margin between the two processus terminales. There are moderately chitinized knobs between the processus lateralis and the base of gonarcus. Gonarcus rather narrow and long, ending in a curved thorn apically. Styli forked. Its outer branch directed upwards, pointed and has little acute projections laterally. Inner branch band-like, forming an arch below the parameres. Between the two bran-
