S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 52. (Budapest, 1992)

Figs 1-2. Heterodispus retropes sp.n. - 1: dorsal side, 2: leg IV Material examined: Holotype: Egypt, FJ-Gemmiza, Gharbia govemorate, April 1989. Leg. A M. Zaki; 2 paratypes from the same sample. Holotype (1399-HT-1991) deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest, 1 paratype in the Muséum d'Histoire naturelle, Geneve and 1 paratype in the collection of the junior author. Remarks: The strongly reduced leg IV well characterises the new species. This character was already known in the genus Heterodispus Paoli, 1911 (H. reductus Mahunka, 1971 and H. konrathi Mahunka, 1974). On this basis was the subgenus: Teherodispus Mahunka, 1974 erected. Only this single feature however seems to be little for preserving this taxon, because all the other characters strongly vary in the whole genus. In the relative genus Imparipes Berlese, 1903 a similar reduction is also observable. On this basis the subgenus Teherodispus is the junior synonym of the nominate subgenus. The new species stands nearest to H. konrathi, but the claw on the first leg is absent (well developed in konrathi) and some of the dorsal setae are very thick (all simple in konrathi).
