Gafsa pappi sp. n. (Figs 1-5) Female.. Head a little broader than thorax (10:9), 2/5 as long as broad viewed from above and somewhat broader than high (10: 9)(facial view). Minimum breadth of vertex 1/2 the maximum breadth of head. Frontovertex 2 times as broad as long in the middle. Ocellar triangle strongly obtuse. Distance between hind ocelli more than distance from hind to anterior ocellus (12:7); distance from a hind ocellus to eye margin is equal to an ocellar diameter, and distance to occipital margin notably less (3:2); distance from the anterior ocellus to the anterior border of frontovertex less than an ocellar diameter 2:3 . Malar space shorter than eye (3:5). Distance from the upper border of facial cavity (facial view) about 1/5 the head height. Distance between toruli as great as 4/5 the distances from a torulus to eye margin and that to mouth margin . Breadth of mouth opening is 1/2 the breadth of head. Radicula of antenna 5 times shorter than scape. Scape a little and evenly broadering to apex, its length about 5 times more than its maximum breadth. Pedicel about 4 times shorter than scape, and about 1.5 times longer than broad lateral view ; 1st funicular segment longer than pedicel (3:2) and almost 2 times as long as broad (9:5); all other funicular segments have similar dimensions or comparatively a little broader/ (length) breadth = 3 2 . Clava a little more than 3 times longer than broad (10:9}, as long as 6th, 5th and 1/2 of the 4th preceeding funicular segments taken together and a little broader than the 6th funicular segment (6.5:5}. Mesoscutum 3 times broader than long. Scutellum longer than mesoscutum (23:15) and a little broader than long (25:23). Propodeum measured in the middle about 1/3 the length of scutellum (8:23) . Fore wings about 2.5 times longer of their greatest breadth. Marginal vein approximately 3.5 times longer than broad, stigmal vein shorter (4:7) and postmarginal vein a little longer than stigmal (5:4). Mesotibial spur shorter than metatarsus (3:4). Gaster a little shorter than mesosoma (9:11). < Body dark with rather bronze-violet metallic reflections. Gaster, especially its 1st, i.e. Illrd abdominal, tergite with a more intensive greenish-bronzeviolet lustre. Antennae, tegulae and legs dark; tarsi except infuscated 5th segment and mesotibial spur brownish yellow. Infuscated area in the middle of the fore wings occupying about 3/8 the length of wing and reaching its posterior border. The infuscation is due to somewhat stronger hairs and the melanization of wing membrane. The oblique hairless stripe (at least that of the right wing) is interrupted in the middle by 1 row of hairs. Postico-lateral angles of propodeum with rather long whitish pubescence. Frontovertex and mesoscutum with a cellular sculpture. Facial region of head with more superficial sculpture. The bottom of scrobes and the most part of middle facial elevation almost smooth. Malar space (cheeks) longitudinally reticulated with scattered points. Sculpture of scutellum cellular formed by somewhat more minute cells than that of mesoscutum. Mesopleuron minutely reticulate (cellulate). Propodeum superficially reticulated. 1st gastral tergite with reticulate sculpture formed by rather large meshes . Length of body - 1.7 mm. Holotype: <j> . Tunisia, Gafsa, III. 1903. Flagellum of the right antennae absent. In the collection of Hungarian Natural History Museum Budapest. The species is dedicated to Dr. Jenő Papp, an outstanding Hungarian hymenopterologist . Remarks. The new genus belongs to the subfamily Tetracneminae . Its tribal position is uncertain. The structure of the clypeus of this genus is unique among Tetracneminae. A somewhat similar structure of clypeus but without 2 teeth is present in the genus Paratetracnem oidea Girault, but it belongs to the subfamily Encyrtinae . Authors' addresses: Dr. Cs.
