SUMMARY The author gives a brief survey of lepidopterologic researches of Transylvania, and he points to that there are still some less explored regions, e.g. Central Transylvania, namely the eastern part of Erdélyi Mezőség (Ctmpia Transilvanei). He lists 426 species of Macrolepidoptera from the above mentioned part of the Carpathian Basin, mainly from the surroundings of the town Marosvásárhely (Tîrgu Mures). Among the listed Lepidoptera there are some rare and local taxa in eastern Europe. The author has discovered new locality of the following taxa in the eastern part of Erdélyi Mezőség: Pyrgus sidae (Esp.), Syrichtus cribrellum (Ev.), Collas chrysothome (Esp.), Plebejus sephirus (Friv.), Proserpinus proserpina (Pall.), Dyscia conspersaria (F.), Cletis maculosa mannerheiml (Dup,), Rhyparia purpurata (L.) and Conistra fragariae (View.).
