with scattered and irregular punctures, wrinkled, except the extreme, being coriaceous and coarsely punctured. Elytral epipleura strongly widened backwards without visible punctura­tion, despite of closely coriaceous ground-sculpture rather shining. Abdomen elongate, very slightly widened backwards to the 5th (visible) tergite, which is the broadest having white membraneous margin on apex, surface of tergites shagreened with separated, large and shal­low punctures only on sides. Length: 4-4.2 mm. Lectotype designated here, is labelled: "642" on lemon-coloured label; "Ostrogorsk, G. Voron(sko? ,_esh? )" - the syllable of the last word iodecioherable - handwriting on red label; "type" on white label; "Zonoptilus schubertii. Rus. mer. Mot ch. " handwriting on white label framed with thick and thin black lines. Lectotype <j> Zonoptilus schubertii Motschulsky det. dr. Tóth L. 1987 on red framed white label. The specimen pinned, abdomen mounted separately on white label. The other specimen is designated as paralectotype: "Poltava" on red label, handwriting. Paralectotype g Zonoptilus schubertii Motschulsky det. dr. Tóth L. 1987 on red framed white label. The specimen mounted on transparent strip. Types are de­posited in the Zoological Museum, University of Moscow. S unknown. The~speci.es is very similar to C. piceus Solsky, 1867, supposed to be a close relative, they form a well-separable group within the subgenus. The distinctive features between the two species are: C. schubertii <j> C. piceus g largest width of the head: broader (27) largest width of the head: narrower (23) pronotum: definitely broader than long pronotum: nearly as long as broad (34:28) (29:30) Figs 1-2.
