conspicuously prominent; EI= 13: 15; vertex weakly swollen, longitudinal furrow Indistinct; antennae rather slender; segment length ratios: 10:4:9:10:11:11:12:11:12:11:17. Pronotum longer than broad, widest in anterior 1/3; surface impunctate, shining, with a few setae in anterior angles. Elytra distinctly flattened; all punctural rows reaching apex; striai punctures moderately coarse, not contiguous; intervals faintly convex; paired intervals entirelyaglabrous; unpaired intervals with setigerous punctures scattered throughout whole length; interval I with 12, III with 21, V with 17, VII with 18, IX with 15, lateral margin with 25 setigerous punctures; setae dark, fine, very long; elytral apex simply rounded. Legs with conspicuously long, semierect to erect hairs. Last abdominal segment simply rounded. Habitus: Fig. 49. Figs 48-49. 48= Casnonidea demetrida sp. n., <3. - 49= C. setosa sp. n., <j> S. Unknown. Holotype, o, labelled as follows: "NEW GUINEA (NE) Baiyer River Sanctuary 1-5. Di. 1969"; "(No. NGB-U.24.) leg. Dr. J. Balogh". It is deposited in HNHM. Remarks: This species is very similar to Casnonidea demetrida but all the punctural rows of elytra reach the apex (only I and Xjin demetrida). Moreover, the eyes are more prominent, the hairs on the elytra and particularly on the legs are very long.
