ed antennái segment XI. Females Have no distinct features that would distinguish them from the generalized females of other (partly undescribed) species belonging to Lagria and other genera of Lagriina, though the lustrous green forebody may help in the recognition. Lagria amethystina sp. n. (Figs 3, 8) Head, pronotum, scutellum, legs and antennae yellowish red; elytra purplish violet; ventral surface reddish, with metasternum and abdominal sterna more or less darker. Length: 6. 7-8. 2 mm. 3. Head impressed between eyes; this impression and 2 blunt, indistinct protuberances nearly smooth; otherwise, head sparsely punctate with long erect hairs; EI= 12: 10; length ratios of antennái segments: 9:4:9:12:9:9:9:8:8:7.5:32; no transversal or modified segments; segment I shorter than half of distance between antennái sockets. Pronotum transverse; widest just anterior to the middle; sides nearly parallel; punctures coarse and close, somewhat rugose before base; with 2 totally indistinct transversal impressions before base; pubescence rather long and sparse, erect. Elytra broadly oval, moderately convex; punctation less coarse, uniformly scattered, interspaces not plicate; pubescence short, dense, erect. Sterna without modifications. Legs typical, with sparse, long pubescence; 1 tibiae unarmed. Aedeagus: Fig. 8. Habitus: Fig. 3. o. Larger on average; EI= 12: 15; length ratios of antenna! segments VIII to XI: 8:8: 7: 19; impression between eyes weaker: pronotum more transverse. Holotype. 6*, labelled as follows: "N. Guinea: NE Bulolo, 700 m 26. XI. 1969"; "J. et M. Sedlacek Collectors BISHOP MUSEUM". It is deposited in BPBM.
