It was our expedition which first used a Honda generator, type E 300, transported from Hungary. The evening and night collectings of the previous eight expeditions were rather limited in space, since the electrical power supply was, obviously, restricted to some house or building close by with electricity installed, and the cables we used earlier rarely exceeded the length of 30 metres and were never more than 50 metres long. In 1985 we had the opportunity to collect in the evenings or nights where previously only diurnal collectings were possible. We were fortunate enough to collect in the ravinous stream valleys in the mountains of Myohyang-san and also in the Mt. Paekdusan, at a region above 2000 metres. At high altitudes the output of the generator perceptibly decreased, which was disturbing at times, but we overcame this inconvenience by simply switching the generator from the normal 50 Hz to 60 Hz. In all the cases this entirely corrected the failing power supplied, and the bulb of 250 W of blended light (HLM) was always shining brightly. Of course, one thing should be borne in mind that the life of a bulb functioned at this Hz will be shorter. The use of the generator has a further advantage, that is, thereby the number of collecting hours in the evenings or nights significantly increased, almost doubled In other words, In several evenings one of us was able to collect in the environs of the hotel or rest house, while the other partner could go out into the wilderness, occasionally 15-20 kilometres distance from the hotel and set up the white sheet where he thought it to be most suitable. Thus, we could collect in the same time at different altitudes with highly different vegetation, which, in our resting hours, allowed us to compare the results of these collecting sites. It was established that the choosing of a particular collecting locality has much bearing on the successfulness of the spoil and it is being far more pronounced here than in Europe. The direction of the wind, the measure in the drop of temperature, the surrounding types of rock all greatly influence the biotopes and thereby the quality and quantity of the captured animals, even in the same night.
