3. Cue Phuong (Ha Nam Ninh Province) - A national park of primary tropical rain forest, mostly on the plain bur also on 200-400 m high limestone hills. Though with some agriculture and Inhabitants with a lower abundance, it was the only place where fallen trees remained at their places. Here we enjoyed the generous help of the Directorate of the National Park. 4. Hoa Binh (Ha Son Binh Province) - We spent two days in some less cultivated areas, though still entirely with secondary vegetation. Once, near the Hoa Binh Water Reservoire (under construction) we reached an area covered by the 5-50 cm thick layer of reddish deposit of the stream dammed up for a one-month experimental period. Twice we were laimoine at or near the hotel, facing a large marshy area. 5. Moc Chau (Son La Province) - Here we could collect around the town in various secondary vegetation (mostly around agricultural areas), along many fish-ponds, streams, channels, and springs abounding in water by previous heavy rainfalls , and once in a forest of a very steep mountain. We are grateful to the authorities of Moc Chau district for their helpfulness in providing us with accommodation.
