A. niti- dulus Gravenhorst, A. petzi Bernhauer, A. herculis Bernhauer, A. politus Erichson) is given. With 13 figures. During the identification of the Oxytelinae collection deriving from the Carpathian Basin of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest I found some rare and little known Anotylus Thomson species. I established that heretofore 27 Oxytelus Gravenhorst species occur in the Carpathian Basin. All the European, especially Central-European monographs, key works, faunistical checklist (except HAMMOND's) have interpreted Oxytelus Gravenhorst as a higher taxon than Anotylus Thomson. HERMAN (1970) elevated Anotylus Thomson from subgenus to generic level. His classification was based on the investigation of world material.
