FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK XLVIII 1987 p. 129-140 Mites extracted from manure and silo (Acari: Acaridae, Anoetidae and Tarsonemina), I. By S. MAHUNKA and S. A. ERAKY (Received December 15, 1986) Abstract: Mites extracted from manure and silo (Acari: Acaridae, Anoetidae and Tarsonemina), I. - The result of taxonomic examinations concerning the mite fauna living in different habitats (manure, dunghill, cow-shed, silage) of a cow-farm at Szentendre (near Budapest) is given. Ten Anotidae species are listed, four of them ( Hlstlostoma dactyloscopicum sp. n., H. magdolnae sp. n., H. woolleyi sp. n., and Syringanoetus faini sp. n.) are new to science. Taxonomic examinations have been carried out in a comparatively large cow-farm (Óbuda Agricultural and Horticultural Co-operative, Budakalász, the milk-farm of Szentendre) for a longer period of time in order to study the mite fauna inhabiting manure, dung-hill, the bed of straw, the soil of the cow-shed, as well as in the utilized fodder, like in cut chaff stored in silo and in fermented plant fragments (silage). The material was extracted by the help of a modified TULLGREEN apparatus. Samples have been taken fortnightly. The extracted material yielded the following groups of mites: Mesostigmata, Acarida (Acaroidea, Anoetoidea) and Prostlgmata. The ontogenesis and population dynamics of the species have been studied, but especially it was necessary to study the entire material from a taxonomical point of view. The present contribution proposes to discuss the results obtained concerning the species of Anoetidae. In the subsequent papers the other groups will be treated separately. A total of 10 Anoetoidea species has been identified of which four proved to be new to science. The description of these species follows hereunder. LIST OF SPECIES Anoetidae Oudemans, 1904 Anoetinae Oudemans, 1904 Histiostoma dactyloscopicum sp. n. - It was taken in manure and from silage. Hlstiostoma magdolnae sp. n. - It found also from silage. Histiostoma phyllophorum (Oudemans, 1905) - A wide-spread species, also known in the Ethiopean Region, extracted mostly from manure. It was very common also in different habitats of this farm: in the manure of the cow-shed, in cow-blaker on pasture, In cow-pen, in silage and in the soil of pastures. Histiostoma woolleyi sp. n. - It was found also in excrement of cows. Histiostoma sp. - The species belongs to the "stammeri"-group, maybe a new species, but a revision of its allies deemed necessary. It was extracted from manure.
