S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 48. (Budapest, 1987)
Notogaster: Well chltlnized, also In the dorsosejugal region. Ten pairs of short, mostly straight notogastral setae present. Setae C2 also short and simple. Coxlsternal region: Pedotecta 1 small, pd. 2-3 absent. Discidium also small, but with a triangular, sharply pointed spur on its posterior margin. Apodemes and borders well developed, only the ap. 4 and bo. 4 weaker than the others. Eplmeres well framed medially, among them a median furrow present (Fig. 18). All epimeral setae short and simple. Epimeral surface ornamented by a weak, irregular, polygonal sculpture. Anogenital region: Genital plates broad, genital aperture not narrower than Its length. Anogenital setal formula: 5-1-2-3. Setae adj arising on short tubercles. Setae adg originating far anteriorly, much nearer to aggenital setae than to setae ad2Legs: Solenidium Cf i and °f * (Fig. 20) arising on a tubercle. Setae s on tarsus II dilate. Type material: Holotype (1250-HO-87): Afr. 211: Nigeria, Bauchi State, Yankari game reserve, Wikki, bark of tree, 22. VII. 1978. leg. A. DEMETER. 1 paratype from the same sample. Holotypedeposited in the HNHM, paratype in the MHNG. Remarks: The new species is hardly assignable to any of the known Oppiidae genera. Maybe it stands between the Oppiella Jacot, 1937 and Graptoppia Balogh, 1983. On the basis of the prodorsal features povisionally I place it in the latter genus, but the new species has ten pairs of notogastral setae (setae C2 present), while in the type of the genus Graptoppia the same is absent. Passalozetes (Passalomonia) demeteri sp. n. Measurements. - Length: 268-286 urn, width: 117-135 urn. Prodorsum: Rostrum broadly rounded. Rostral and lamellar setae nearly equal in length, latter arising on small tubercles. Interlamellar setae slightly shorter than the preceding ones. Sensillus short, well thickened, its head also ciliate marginally. Exobothridial setae short but strong, all originating behind the trichobothrium. Prodorsal surface ornamented by irregular rugae; a well-observable transversal lath also present (Fig. 22). Notogaster: Lenticulus indistinct (Fig. 24). Ten pairs of thin, small notogastral setae present. Setae la and lm arising near to areae porosae Aa, setae Ip originating in the posterior part of notogaster near to setae hg. Lyriflssures ip very long, longer than the length of setae (Fig. 22). Notogastral surface with different sculpture, comprising polygonal reticulation (it consists of large alveoli) anteriorly (Fig. 24)and poorly foveolate (Fig. 25) posteriorly. Coxisternal region: Surface ornamented by irregular alveoli, more numerous laterally, less so medially. The insertion of the median epimeral setae well observable, framed by a chitinous ring. The insertion of setae lc, 3c and 4c hardly visible. Epimeral setal formula: 3-1-2-3. Setae 4b arising posteriorly, beside the genital plates. All setae very short. Anogenital region: Genital aperture framed by chitinous laths. All setae in this region short and simple. Setae ad2 and adg in adanal position. Lyriflssures iad very long, originating far anteriorly from the anal aperture (Fig. 23). Legs: All legs monodactylous. Ventral spur of all legs very large, as shown In Fig. 26. Type material: Holotype (1251-HO-87): Afr. 200: Nigeria, Bauchi State, Yankari game reserve Kwala Road, 500 m from Gaji river, soil + litter + grass. 9. VII. 1978. leg. A.DEMETER. 16 paratypes from the same sample; 6 paratypes: Afr. 211: Nigeria, Bauchi State, Yankari game reserve, Wikki soil sample from grassland, 22. VII. 1978. leg. A. DEMETER. Holotype and 19 paratypes (1251-PO-87) deposited in the HNHM and 3 paratype in the MHNG. Remarks: The new species is distinguished from all the heretofore known taxa of the family Passalozetidae Grandjean, 1954 by Its monodactylous legs. For this features a new subgenus is established: Passalomonia subgen. nov Type species: Passalozetes (Passalomonia) demeteri sp. n.
